7 August 2009

It was another great food & fun fair for NASAM PJ & Ampang on 2 August 2009 at Taman Jaya. There was roast lamb, BBQ chicken & beef, Thai laksa, char koay teow, chicken rice, satay, Thai laksa, mee rebus, Indian, Malay, Thai & Italian food & a wide array of cakes, pastries & breads.

Mike Tay's signature sambal udang kering was sold out in no time and demand was so great that orders were taken for a special batch to be cooked after the Fair! The item raised more than RM3,000. Well done, Mike Vicky and Sunar and all who helped to make the sambal .

Also on sale were vegetarian food, mangosteens, pomelos, langsat, and household & personal care products from the Truly Loving Company. Children were seen enjoying the many games that challenged their speed, accuracy and skills.

In spite of the gloomy economic conditions, visitors came in droves to savour the food as well as take home some bargains from the bazaar & jumble stalls.

NASAM would like to thank all sponsors, donors, volunteers and staff who had helped make this Fair another success. We raised
over RM200,000. Accounts yet to be finalized.

NASAM Sabah held their fundraising dinner, themed The Fabulous 70s Nite at Pacific Sutera's Grand Ballroom on 4 August 2009. There were 35 tables and the dinner was graced by the presence of Guest-of-Honour, TYT Yang Di Pertua Negeri Sabah, Tun Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Ahmadshah bin Abdullah.

The personal efforts of the organizing committee, led by Toh Puan Rahimah, brought in generous donations. The dinner grossed more than RM300,000 which included sales of liquor as well as donations for the performances. Representing NASAM HQ & PJ were Margaret Chang and Sheila Joachim respectively.

On 18 July 2009, Jeffery Lee (Admin Assistant of NASAM Malacca) gave a talk on stroke in Bahasa Malaysia to members of the Herbs Alumni of Yaacob Berkat Enterprise Melaka. He also introduced NASAM to the audience.
