Betty Chew holds a law degree from the University of Singapore.  She was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1973. She has been in practice for 45 years in the private sector and was involved with the Kuala Lumpur Legal Aid Bureau and the Bar Council Disciplinary Board.

She is still active in her legal practice.  She is a Senior Consultant with a legal firm in Kuala Lumpur where she is also a registered Trademark Agent and a Notary Public.

She has been on the Board of NASAM since 1998, serving as Legal Adviser, and is also a volunteer and fundraiser.
