Chris Low

Emeritus Board Member

and

NASAM Petaling Jaya

Sub-committee Chairperson

Chris Low’s legacy is built on creativity, determination and a relentless pursuit of excellence. For over 40 years, she dedicated her life to life to designing and furnishing stunning living spaces for her clients. Her remarkable journey began in the 1970s with the founding of Thamesa Designs, a one-stop home furnishing establishment she co-founded with her partners. By the mid-1980s, Chris had acquired all the shares, becoming the sole owner and propelling Thamesa Designs into a new era of innovation and distinction.

Chris traveled the globe, sourcing exclusive pieces and introducing fresh, original designs that positioned her brand as the premier destination for elite clientele. At the peak of her career, her expertise extended beyond private homes to prestigious projects, including:

  • Providing décor and soft furnishings to Malaysia’s most renowned hotels,
  • Designing for the residences of ministers and industry leaders,
  • Participating in the restoration of Istana Negara (the Malaysian National Palace).

Never one to rest on her laurels, Chris ventured into property development, transforming neglected estates into impressive, high-status properties. This endeavor, while time-intensive, brought immense fulfillment and occupied her for over two decades.

Today, Chris has retired, passing the torch to the next generation. In retirement, she continues to make a meaningful impact in society. She is NASAM PJ’s chairperson. She also served for many years as a NASAM board member. Chris also finds joy in mentoring young entrepreneurs and staying connected to her community by exploring the vibrant pasar pagi and pasar malam.
