National Stroke Association Of Malaysia (NASAM), as a data user is concerned about your right to privacy. As NASAM complies with the PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION ACT 2010 or also known as Act 709, we shall ensure appropriate treatment of your personal data in every possible way. This PRIVACY STATEMENT is applicable to all data subject.

NASAM reserves all the right to make changes to this PRIVACY STATEMENT at any time and users will be notified via www.nasam.org with the label of “NEWLY UPDATED” for a period of 30 days.

COLLECTION AND USE

How Do We Collect Your Personal Data

Personal data will be collected with your consent if you wish to participate in any of the services which usually takes the form of:
Registration or sign-up as members and participants in events organized by NASAM;
Surveys and polls; and
Feedback, questions, or comments through our Facebook page.

How Do We Use Your Personal Data

From time to time, your personal data that we collect and keep, allow us to:

Keep you posted on all NASAM’s latest announcements, notices, upcoming events and etc. through emails, letters, phone calls or SMS; and

Use for internal communication and demographic studies to improve NASAM’s services and communications.

Should the purpose of use of your personal data you provided to us change, we will make public or notify you of the changed purpose.

What Kind of Personal Data We Will Collect

Personal data may refer to any information that can be used to personally identify you or contact you online or offline.

This may include, for example, your name, postal address, e-mail address, phone number, fax number and others (“personally identifiable information”) as well as demographic information such as your date of birth, age, gender, habits or preferences, etc. when such information is tied to your personally identifiable information (collectively, “personal information”).

PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

NASAM takes appropriate steps to ensure the safe management of your personal information to protect your personal information from unauthorized or accidental access, disclosure, alteration or destruction, loss, modification and misuse. We strive to develop and improve the internal system designed to ensure appropriate treatment of personal information and to conduct ongoing personnel training programs for that purpose.

DISCLOSURE TO THIRD PARTIES

NASAM will not provide third parties with your personal data without your prior written consent except in cases where we delegate the handling of personal data to third parties as data processors, such as our vendors, suppliers, contractors, agents and any identifiable sources or means to the extent necessary for the purpose of use, such as information processing, member data enhancing and managing, member service & member research. With a clear understanding of the outsourcing of personal data handling to third parties above as data processors, we shall comply with the PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION ACT 2010 requirements.

RETENTION OF PERSONAL DATA AND ACCESS

Generally, your personal data will be kept for as long as needed to provide you the services requested. NASAM shall endeavour to make it easy for you to access and correct your personal data in order to ensure the data subject is accurate, complete and up to date. If you wish that we no longer use your personal data to provide you services e.g., opt-out of receiving email or to update your data, please contact us.
