Yap Yoke Fui completed her higher education with a major in accountancy from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She dedicated her early years to honing her skills as an accountant in various industries including advertising.

In 1984, she ventured into construction and property development to grow her family business. Besides developing residential and commercial properties in Malaysia she also managed some residential projects overseas.

Her interest in community service can be traced back to her youth when she was an active member of organisations such as Befrienders, Kiwanis and Shelter. In recent years, her focus has shifted to serving BeCause Community Care Society and NASAM.
